Janet Tyler was born on 07.11.53 in Santa Barbara, California.

She received a BA in Sociology at the University of California Santa Barbara, and studied voice privately with Met Opera Soprano Natalie Bodanya.

She also did graduate work in voice at U.S.C.(University of Southern California) with Natalie Limonick. She was the first classical
singer ever to receive a scholarship from Atlantic Records in New York.

She was a scholarship student at the Music Academy of the West for 2 consecutive summers.

She sang in many musical theater productions and plays during her school years and professionally. She moved to Los Angeles in the 80's where she worked for 3 years on the number 1 soap opera General Hospital.

She also worked as general manager for Verne Pershing Productions in Hollywood where she was in charge of casting, accounting, contracts and was script supervisor for all film productions. She sang in studios for
Motown and Columbia Records while living in Los Angeles.

In 1986 she was chosen to sing Carmen on a European tour in the production Carmen Jones with the New York Harlem Opera Ensemble
where she sang in all the major opera houses of Europe.

She settled in Europe and participated in the Belvedere Singing Contest where she became a semi-finalist. This categorized her as one of the 90
best opera singers in the world.

In 1991 she was cast in Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera as the Hofdame. She was the first Black women ever to be cast in
this show. Many other productions and concerts followed which took her
all over the world.

In 1993 she founded PG Management, a musical theater agency that concentrates on helping artists maintain a high professional level, and focuses on finding them jobs that further their careers.

She then co-produced and played in the TV series Rita's Wunderbar in Germany. She was the first Black American Women to ever co-produce
a television series in Germany (96/97).

She helped many musicians obtain jobs, because she insisted that the artists must play and sing live on the show, so they could show their real talents. This enabled them to receive work from producers and directors
and promoters that watched the show.
