Dániel Rákász - Hauptrolle in Dirty Dancing -" Johnny "

So Dear Janet,
I would like to say some words on the Workshop-2009 I took part in. Although I had no idea what it was going to be like, at the end of the whole thing I felt like the most luckiest chap on earth. What you created this learning atmosphere is just the perfect way to raise ones knowledge, skills and self esteem... and we all know how important all that three is in this business.

I met genius teachers, ones I'll be always remember and I hope to work with again in my life. I've learned so much and I already utilised some of it in my stage performance in Dirty Dancing. My dance partner already noticed the change and in terms of acting I can sense the different shape of the world around me whils doing the scenes than before. I feel much stronger. So I truly believe, that, what in the workshop happens is a gift to all performers who come and do it.

As a matter of fact even spiritually I gained so much by my own and also my colleagues experiences. I feel like having lost an old smaller shell of mine, and having been given a much bigger one to grow into - I hope to fill that in until the next AIS workshop because I just can't wait to continue working with this attitude that is present in Marktoberdorf.

I consider "giving to people" a tremendous act nowadays, because unfortunately our world tends to worship "taking" instead. But the creators of this Workshop must be angels of God, because they want others to become stronger better and more like them. We like to call this professionalism, but it is about much more. It is about love, love of the stage, of the talent, and loving the audience to whom we're all giving the best of our skills. I'm really grateful that my friends and fate took me to the little town of Marktoberdorf this year because it has changed my life forever!

Dániel Rákász.

Dear Janet,

This is just to once again say thank you very much for letting me participate in the workshop this year! I had a fabulous time and learned so much, not only about singing, acting and dancing but also about the person and spirit that I am!

I will definitely continue working on my skills (I already enrolled in a dance class starting on Monday and I will ask Steve for a recommendable acting class or group near Cologne). I have decided to "allow" myself one year of intense work on all aspects of musical theatre (of course I will have to continue my day job to pay for my expenses, but still), and if you permit, I will take part in the workshop once again next year to obtain feedback on whether (and how much) I have improved and developed. And then let's see where I'll go from there. :)

Once again: thank you for all the work, effort, and love you put in this workshop! There is so much I will keep in my heart forever.

I'm looking forward to seeing you in Aachen in December.

Best, Philipp Maurer

Dear Janet,
I think it might be nice for you to know what happened to me after my arrivel in Munich: I had to go to Abraxas for rehearsals straight from the train station after we all parted. When I entered, some of my school mates welcomed me, and after a few minutes, they were looking at me and told me: "You're looking great and so relaxed - somehow... different!". Their impression was that I had completely changed from an unhappy, uncertain, tense and knotted person into a free and happy smiling woman. And I have to admit: I felt suddenly somewhat taller than I actually am. To see that the feeling I brought with me from your workshop is not only something deep within myself but something everyone can see outside was the greatest experience of all!!!

Where can you find such a loving and nuturing atmosphere and so much trust that if you fall on your face no one will laugh? Whether teachers or colleagues, everyone is ready to catch you, and give you the strength, understanding and encouragement to move on.

Where in Germany or in Europe does New York come to you??? To be able to work with the top voice teacher in New York, an excellent acting coach and a two-time Tony Award Winning choreographer is an absolute gift. The improvement that all artists experience during this 4 day workshop is phenominal—in fact, it’s just short of a miracle!

We as artists are privileged. Our hobby, our passion pays our rent! We literally play dress up every day, enter into a fantasy world and help people forget their problems for a few hours. Why settle for mediocrity? Do we not owe it to ourselves as artists and our audiences to keep growing and investing in our careers?

God bless you, Janet for believing in us and organizing the “Triple Threat Audition Workshop” every year!

Gladiss
